Alda Maria (Raposo) Farias, age 85 of Fall River, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026 at Charlton Memorial Hospital with her loving family by her side. Born in Fajã de Cima, São Miguel, Açores, Alda was the beloved wife of the late Norberto P. Farias and the daughter of the late Antonio L. & Laura (Medeiros) Raposo.

Alda was currently working for the Council on Aging as a Senior Aide at the Flint Senior Center for over 20 years. She was a devoted parishioner of Espirito Santo Church, and the pillar of her family. Alda wasn't your typical Avó at 85 years young she still wore high heels and dressed in current fashion. Alda enjoyed having lunches with her sisters, Gilda and Mary, at their favorite lunch spots, and chatting for countless hours with her sister Antonieta on the phone. Alda loved nothing more than spending time with her family. Her favorite pastime was going on family vacations with them, most notably was going to Maine and Florida. Alda was one-of-a-kind, always willing to try new things, including amusement rides and new foods, she knew how to enjoy life and celebrated it well with family. Her family was her greatest treasure. Alda was the light of her family and will truly be missed by all.

Alda is survived by her daughter Ruth Medeiros and her husband John of Westport; her sisters Maria Gilda Pereira of Bermuda, Mary Leonilde Pires of Fall River, and Maria Antonieta Tome of the Azores; her three cherished grandchildren; her sweet great-granddaughter; four nieces & two nephews.

A visitation for Alda will take place on Tuesday, April 7th from 8:30-10:15 AM at the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River with a Funeral Mass to follow at Espirito Santo Church, 311 Alden St., at 11:00 AM. Interment at Notre Dame Cemetery.
