SOMERSET - Alice P. (Oliveira) Soares, age 94, a life-long resident of Somerset, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022 with her loving family by her side.  Born in Fall River, Alice was the beloved life of 72 years to the late Manuel (Manny) O. Soares.  She was the daughter of the late Horace P. and Maria B (Farias) Oliveira. She was a parishioner of St. Thomas More Church.

Prior to retiring, Alice helped her husband operate their dairy farm for many years. Alice carried the pails of mild to the milk room, drove the tractor during hay season, helped with the administration of medications to the cows when they were sick, and tended to the family garden all while maintaining their home and raising a family.

She loved knitting, baking, reading mystery novels, shopping, going out to eat, and spending time with her daughter and her family. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was the life of the party. She was loved by everyone that knew her, especially the residents of Swan Brook Assisted Living where she resided for 1 year until her illness.

She is survived by her daughter, Joanne Parent and her husband Ronald Graham of Somerset, and her brother, Horace P. Oliveira Jr. of Somerset, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Alice's funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River, MA on Tuesday, Sep. 27 ^th with a visitation from 8:30-9:30 A.M., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas More Church, 386 Luther Ave., Somerset, MA. at 10:00 A.M.
