Antone
Martinho
Aug 27, 1957 — Jul 17, 2025
Swansea
SWANSEA - In loving memory, we honor the life of Antone Martinho, age 67, who passed away on July 17, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Donna (Gallucci Barboza) Martinho and former husband of Lisa Martinho. Born in Bretanha, São Miguel, Açores, he was the son of the late Joao and Silvana (Tavares) Martinho.
Antone bravely battled Machado-Joseph's Disease, a rare, inherited neurological condition, and was deeply committed to advancing research and awareness about the illness. He volunteered as a study patient, determined to contribute in any way he could to finding a cure—not just for himself, but for future generations affected by the disease. His courage and selflessness in the face of such a difficult diagnosis were a testament to the kind of man he was.
He worked for many years as a dedicated maintenance man for the Swansea School Department. Antone had a deep love for life—he enjoyed traveling, going to the casino, boating, and fishing, but nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his grandchildren. Known for his kindness and willingness to help anyone in need, he was a loving soul with a special place in his heart for animals, especially his beloved dog Isabella.
Along with his wife, was loved and cherished by many people including his children Jamie Martinho (Bryanha) of Swansea and Scott Martinho of Fall River; step-children Carrie Cox (William) of Somerset and Michael Barboza (Erica) of Swansea; grandchildren Elin Barboza, Liam Cox, Lucas Barboza, Caroline Cox, Jolene Martinho, Cohen Martinho and Delylah Duarte; siblings Mary Rose Lindo, Manuel Martinho, Senhourinha Martinho, Nelly Jacob, Suzanne Pacheco, John Martinho and the late Joe and Simao Martinho; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River. To send the family Expressions of Sympathy, please click the Guest Book below.
