Antonio Melo, age 88 of Fall River, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025 at Morton Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born Feb. 17, 1937 in Vila Franca do Campo, São Miguel, Açores to the late Jose Melo and the late Maria (Bento Sousa) Melo. Antonio was the beloved husband to Maria Natalia (Cabral) Melo of 60 years.

Prior to retiring, Antonio worked as a machine operator for Joan Fabrics and previously for Bristol Knitting Mills, and was a devoted parishioner of Santo Christo Church. Antonio loved to do gardening, landscaping, and would go throughout the city with his ladder to tend to family and friend's grape vines. He is also remembered for having a sweet tooth. Most of all, Antonio loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Natalia, Antonio is survived by his children Antonio J. Melo of Somerset, Luis A. Melo (wife Christina) of New Bedford, and Connie Melo (husband Luis) of Fall River; eight grandchildren Bryan Travassos (wife Brittany), Nicholas Travassos, Ariana, Amber, Nathaniel, & Kaylee Melo, Sabrina Melo (companion Andrew Moniz) & Joshua Melo; three great grandchildren Benjamin, Eli, and Grace; and many nieces and nephews. Antonio was predeceased by his nine brothers & sisters.

Antonio's funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Saturday, Nov. 15th  here at 8:30 AM with a funeral mass at Santo Christo Church at 10:00 AM.
