FALL RIVER – April Dawn Gobern, age 58, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024. Born in Providence, RI to Sharon (Cardoza) Defreitas (Larry) and the late Abraham L. Gobern. April was also the fiancée to Mark Bennett.

April had worked for 22 years at Catholic Memorial Home as a CNA. She's kind, caring, and respected by her coworkers and the residents that she took care of. From playing bingo to putting on plays at work, she loved her job. One of her proudest moments was playing Sister Mary Clarence from "Sister Act" in a play put on for the residents. She made sure to tell everyone to come see her that day.

Most of all, April loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren. They were her whole world. She would have them over as much as possible. She had such a unique bond with each one of them. The kids would boast how they were welcome anytime at Nana's house. They always felt love and cared for. No one could deny her devotion to them.

In addition to her fiancé Mark, survivors include her children: Manuel Gobern (Lindsay Mondor) of Pawtucket, Sharon Nunes (Jarred Pittsley) of Fall River, Janice Ellis of NY, and Delano Ellis of Fall River; siblings: Stephanie Gobern, Colleen Hartsfield, Kevin Hartsfield, Larry & Jason Defreitas, Eric Gobern, and Tracy Timmons; grandchildren: Annika Nunes, David Gobern, Lakwon Crump, Rileigh Kehoe, twins Alexis & Mercedes Ellis, Delano Ellis III, Ezekiel Ellis, Anthony Pezzuolo, Tigerlily Gobern, and the expected Colton Pittsley.

April's funeral service will take place on Saturday, Aug. 17th at 1:00 P.M.in the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River. Cremation to follow. Calling hours on Friday, Aug. 16th from 5-8 P.M. To sign the guestbook, please go to the link at the bottom of the page.
