Fall River - Carolyn (Benoit) Manchester, age 78, passed away at St. Anne's Hospital on Monday, December 19th.  Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Adelard J. and Angelina (Carvalho) Benoit.  She was the wife of the late Arthur Manchester and former wife of Antone Torres Sr.

Prior to retirement, Carolyn worked as a sales representative for Corning Revere and Fall River Knitting Mills for many years.  She enjoyed doing puzzles and was an avid reader; she had almost every single book that James Patterson wrote.  She loved to play cards on Friday nights with her daughter and granddaughters and grandson before he passed, and also with her sisters.  She was also an avid Red Sox fan.  Carolyn was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend and she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her daughters Sheryl Ann (Torres) Copley and Ann Marie (Torres) and her husband Steven A. Garant; her brother James Benoit and his wife Barbara Moss; her sisters; Patricia Teixeira, Dorothy Kershaw and Susan Benoit.  She was the grandmother to Nicole M. (Copley) and husband Bryan Sanchez, Tara Copley, Harry, Matthew and Scott Copley, Kristina L. Oliveira and her fiancé Kyle Rose, Amanda Helley.  She also had thirteen great grandchildren, and plenty of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sons Antone Torres Jr. and Richard Torres; her brothers Joseph A. Benoit, David Benoit, Raymond Benoit and Thomas Benoit; and her grandsons Michael Helley and JeanPaul Bouchard.

Carolyn's funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Friday, December 30th at 12:00 P.M. with a service in the funeral home at 12:15 P.M., burial to follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Fall River.  A morning visitation will be held at Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, Friday, December 30th, beginning at 11:00 A.M.
