Fall River

Obituary

Fall River – Charles R. Jones, age 85, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, March 15 th .  Born in Cincinnati, Ohio he was the son of the late Earl Lee and Helen May (Hammitt) Jones.  He was the best husband ever to Nancy E. (Beattie) Jones.

In 1959, when Charley was just about 22 years old, he enlisted in the US Army, where he proudly served his country for 6 years before he was honorably discharged. One day in 1964, on the beach in St. Petersburg, FL, Charley met the love of his life Nancy.  They fell in love and have been happily married for almost 60 years.  Throughout his life, Charley was a go getter, and accomplished everything he set his mind to.  He owned and operated both "Charley's Auto Parts" in Fall River, as well as The Bear's Den in Tiverton, RI.  He liked working on cars, tinkering with parts and keeping his tools where ever he felt they should be. Charley learned how to fly and obtained his IFR pilot's license, and flew his Cessena 182 all over the country with his Nancy by his side.  He enjoyed road trips with his family in his Mazda Miata, that was "better than his corvette".  Charley was a member of the Fall River Elks Club and made many friends throughout his life, that became family.  He adored animals, frequently meeting many shelter pups during their walks through his property in Tiverton; but he especially loved his dogs, Nellie who was the failed salvage yard protector, but she ended up making a great couch protector though; and Big Jake. He was strong, determined, dedicated, ambitious and quite the amazing son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, and he will be so deeply missed.

Besides the absolute love of his life, Nancy, Charley is survived by his children; David Jones and his wife Kyle of Huntington, W.V., Charles R. Jones and his partner Renee Smith of Las Vegas, N.V. and Nancy E. Jones; his daughter in law, Jackie D. Jones of Dighton, M.A.; his grandchildren; Casey P. Jones and his significant other Alison Halaburda, David Jones, Shane Jones, Michael Miller, Robert Jones, Ali Jones, Patrick Jones and Tristan Moore; his great grandchildren; Shawn and Kory Jones; many nieces and nephews as well as so many close friends.

Charley was predeceased by his brothers; Earl, Donald and Ralph Jones; and his son John. M. Jones.

The family would also like to give a special thanks to Charley caregiver,  Kyle Gauthier, who went above and beyond his "job", dedicating his time and compassion to Charley and the rest of the Jones family, and like many others that came into their lives, is now considered family.  As well as the nurses from Accent Care Hospice and the staff at Highland Adult Day Care who happily spent time with Charley and enjoyed his antics.
