FALL RIVER – Cremilde C. (Torres) Stavros, age 92 of Fall River, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 27, 2023 in the comforts of her home with her loving family by her side. Born in Fall River on March 29, 1930, Cremilde was the beloved wife of 69 yrs. to Angelo A. Stavros and the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Reis) Torres.

Cremilde graduated from BMC Durfee High School class of 1948. She was a graduate of Bryant College and Roger Williams College.

She was a retired teacher from the Fall River School Department and truly enjoyed teaching. Community service was important to her. As a member of Altrusa International of Fall River she held the position of president and Chairperson of Community Service, volunteered at the gift shop at Charlton Memorial Hospital and was a member of the auxiliary.

Millie as her friends and family knew her, loved the arts and traveled extensively throughout Europe and the United States. She enjoyed many years at Bakers Beach in Westport.

Her greatest love and joy was her family. She loved being with her children and grandchildren, telling stories of the past and always encouraging them to live life to the fullest. She will be forever missed.

In addition to her husband Angelo, survivors include her two daughters: Carolyn Suneson (Matthew) and Mary Beth Prescott (Myles) all of Fall River; four grandchildren: Justin Bond (Danielle), Taylor, Jordan, and Griffin Prescott; three great grandchildren: Gavin, Rozlynn, and Evelyn; aunt of Joyce Blackburn and Curt Oliveira; nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her late sister and friend Adelia (Lea) Oliveira and the late Gilbert C. Oliveira

Cremilde's funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023 with visitation from 9-10 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass in Holy Name Church at 10:30 A.M. Interment will be Private.
