Cynthia (Fernandes) Monahan, "Cindy," age 72 of Somerset, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Fall River on October 23, 1952 to the late Antone Souza Fernandes and the late Mary (Correia) Fernandes, Cynthia was the beloved wife of Paul Francis Monahan Jr.

Prior to retiring, Cynthia worked for the Town of Swansea School Dept. as a kindergarten teacher. She loved being a teacher, and she was the first of her family to graduate from college. Cynthia was a large supporter of her children's academic endeavors, and was definitely a Somerset Football Mom to her son and all his friends.

Some of Cynthia's interests were cooking, gardening, and meeting friends for coffee. She also enjoyed watching HGTV, the Hallmark Channel, Seinfeld, and all types of crime shows. She loved listening to a wide variety of music, and absolutely cherished celebrating the Christmas season and watching holiday movies like "Home Alone" with her family.

In addition to her husband Paul, Cynthia is survived by her children Kathryn Mary Monahan and Patrick Anthony Monahan; her sisters Genevieve C. Fernandes and Patricia A. (Fernandes) Macero (husband Anthony Macero); close cousins Deborah (Megna) Drape Hopkins and Rev. Jeffrey E. Megna; nieces, nephews, and other cousins; and many friends.

Cynthia's funeral will take place on Thursday, April 10, 2025 from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River at 8:45 AM with a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Peace Parish at St. Louis de France Church, Swansea at 10:00 A.M. Interment at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Somerset. Calling hours on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 from 5-8 P.M.
