Daniel "Danny"
Araujo
Feb 20, 1943 — Dec 25, 2022
Portsmouth
Portsmouth, R.I. – Daniel "Danny" J. Araujo Jr., age 79, passed away at Charlton Memorial on December 25 th . Born in Fall River he was the son of the late Daniel J. Araujo Sr. and the late Laura (Amaral) Araujo.
Danny was a man of many interests. He was quite the music aficionado, listening to all types of music, but mostly his "hippy" classic rock. He was an avid coin collector, especially wheat pennies and his organization of the coins was impeccable. He also began collecting stamps at the age of seven which he continued through his life. He was a Miami Dolphins super fan but would sit down and watch any NFL game. Danny also was a crossword puzzle expert and also enjoyed making and painting ceramics. He loved animals, especially all of his dogs and throughout his life he also had tropical fish, birds and even a guinea pig. When Danny was younger, his grandmother taught him how to knit and crochet, learning the way from the Old Country. He kept it up into his later years and made dozens of outfits, hats and even made his grandniece's Christening dress. He played a huge part in his sister Donna's life, practically raising her from an infant while his parents went to work. He also left school to begin working so he could help his family. However, many years later he went back and obtained his G.E.D. and more than likely got the highest score in the class on the math portion.
He is survived by his children; Cheryl Albernaz and her significant other Ronald "Rocky" Cloutier, Kevin Araujo, Stacy Darling and her husband Thomas; his siblings; Michael "Bartch" Araujo and his wife Mary Ann, Donna Hastie and her husband Charles; his grandchildren; Jordan Albernaz, Alexa Araujo, Kameron Araujo, Cody Albernaz and Emily Darling; his great grand child Skylar Ballinger; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his siblings; Lucille Reis and John Araujo.
Following the wishes of Danny, there will be no services. The Manuel Rogers Funeral Home is assisting the family. To share a memory or offer a condolence please visit www.rogersfuneral.com
