FALL RIVER – David B. da Luz, age 69 a longtime resident of Fall River, peacefully passed away on Monday, Dec. 23, 2024 at Charlton Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Furnas, São Miguel, Açores to the late Silvestre B. da Luz and the late Maria E. (Machado) da Luz.

Prior to retiring, David worked as a construction laborer for many years. He was a hard worker and lived a hard challenging life, but he would help anyone in need with anything they needed. David loved to ride his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, hanging out with his friends at the club, and in his younger days, he played soccer for the Academica team.

In 2018, David's helping of anyone in need, even strangers, was proven when he helped the driver of a car that went into the water, at Fall River Bicentenniel Park, to safety when it appeared they could not swim.

He is survived by his siblings Joseph B. da Luz and his wife Ana of Fall River, Silvestre M. da Luz and his wife Geneva of Fall River, Rosa Maria da Luz of Somerset, Gabriela Brito and her husband Antonio of Taunton, and Eugenia Perry of Somerset; nieces & nephews Scott & Timothy da Luz, Rick, Michael, & David Braga, Tanya Brito, Monica Houghton, Victoria Beck, Nicole Perry, and the late Christopher Perry; many great nieces & nephews.

David's funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Tuesday, Dec. 31st here at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Michael's Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River.
