Fall River - David J. Mello, age 67, passed away unexpectedly on November 19 ^th .  Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Jose S. De Melo and Izaura (Rebello) De Melo.  He was the husband of the late Dorene (Bodio) Mello.

Prior to his retirement, David was the Director of the Medical Technology Program for over 37 years at Rhode Island Hospital.  David and his wife Dorene loved to travel together, especially to the Caribbean and also Europe.  He liked to decorate and work on his home, especially for the holidays. In his free time, he enjoyed going out to dinner and entertaining friends.

Besides his mother, Izaura, David is survived by his children; Alex Mello and his wife Chelsea of Swansea, Alison Mello and her wife Michelle of Brooklyn, NY; his brother Manuel Mello and his wife Jennifer of Fall River; his grandchildren, Max and Sara; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat Max.

His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Monday, November 28th with a visitation from 8:00-9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph's Church at 10:00 AM. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
