It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Dolores Mello, 94, of Fall River, MA on August 1, 2024.

Dolores was born on April 6, 1930, to Joseph and Sarah Pavao. In 1947, she married Valdomiro Mello at St. Michael's Church in Fall River, beginning a journey of 54 years of love and devotion.

Dolores was a beloved educator, imparting her skills in sewing to countless students at Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School. Her commitment to her community extended beyond the classroom as an active member of the Altrusa International Club, where she forged many lasting friendships.

Dolores found joy in music and travel, and had an appreciation for the finer things in life. Her artistic talent shone brightly through her accomplished amateur paintings, each piece a testament to her appreciation for beauty and creativity.

Dolores was predeceased by her devoted husband, Valdomiro Mello; her parents, Joseph Pavao and Sarah (Saudade); her sister, Adelia Bradley; and her son-in-laws, Albert Nadeau and Richard Kitchen.

She leaves behind a loving family: her daughters, Helen Kitchen and Diane Nadeau, both of Fall River, MA; Jeanne Callen and husband Dr. Dennis Callen of Little Compton, RI; and Susan Mello and wife Ann Simmons of Jackson Heights, NY. Dolores was the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Her life was also brightened by the companionship and support of her friend and helper, Kathy Fiola.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association in honor of Dolores Mello. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 7th from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 North Main Street, Fall River, MA. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at Saint Michael's Catholic Church, 189 Essex Street, Fall River, MA.
