FALL RIVER - The world lost a bright light with the passing of Dorothea Tavares, age 102, on October 3, 2025 at Kimwell Nursing Center. She was the loving wife of the late William Dias Tavares. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Belmira (Machado) Isadore.

Dorothea was a devoted parishioner of St. Michael's Church, where she dedicated countless hours to the parish community. She served faithfully as head of Bingo, was an active member of the Women's Guild, and lovingly sewed clothing and items for the parish bazaar. Her tireless efforts and cheerful spirit made her an integral part of church life, and she gave of herself wholeheartedly in everything she did.

Dorothea and her husband shared a beautiful life together, creating lasting memories as they traveled and enjoyed one another's company. She had a kind and generous heart, always putting others before herself and offering her time and talents without hesitation. She was a true reflection of the depth of her goodness and the grace with which she lived her life.

She is survived by goddaughter and caretaker Cynthia Gibeault (husband Craig); nephews and nieces Craig M. Gibeault, Kevin and Jason Tavares, Elizabeth Coleman, as well as many other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Vincent and Edward Isadore.

Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St., Fall River Wednesday, October 8th with extended calling hours from 8:30-9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael's Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
