Edith (Cabral) Moniz, 97, a resident of Westport passed away on Monday, Sept. 18, 2023. Edith fought a hard battle and died with her loving family by her side in the comfort of her own home. Born in Fall River, Edith was the beloved wife of the late John Leo Moniz and the daughter of the late Francisco and Maria (Araujo) Cabral. Edith was the last surviving sibling of seven. She's the sister of the late Francisco T. Cabral, John Cabral, Roger Cabral, Gil Cabral, Louis Cabral, Genevieve Cardoza and Matilda Henrique.

Prior to retirement, Edith worked for Louis Hand Mfg. as the Floor lady for 45 years and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. Edith took joy in spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great granddaughter. She loved dancing with her husband John, taking trips with him to Atlantic City, Las Vegas and Tennessee. She was also a frequent guest at her local casino. Edith was passionate and took pride in her talent of crocheting and often donated her handmade blankets to churches and senior centers. She enjoyed going to the VFW and was a spark of light with her close-knit karaoke family.

Edith is survived by her daughter, Mary S. Correia, her 3 grandchildren, Lorrie A. Cariglia, Dawn M. Correia, and Derek W. Correia and 1 great granddaughter, Ashleigh N. Corriea, and many nieces and nephews. Edith was just recently predeceased by her brother, Frank Cabral.

Following cremation, a visitation for Edith will be held on Saturday, September 30th from 10 A.M. – 12 P.M. with a service at 11:30 A.M. in the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River.
