Edward S. Fernandes, age 94 and a longtime resident of Somerset, peacefully passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Fall River, Edward was the beloved husband of Lucille (Anctil) Fernandes of 71 years, and the son of the late Manuel S. Fernandes Sr. and the late Georgina (Faria) Fernandes.

Prior to retiring, Edward worked for the Town of Somerset Highway Dept., and  previously for Guimond farms, and Gammino  Construction Co. Ed was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Parish at St. Patrick's Church, an avid baseball fan, and gardener.

In addition to his beloved wife Lucille, Edward is survived by his 2 sons Brian Fernandes, EdD of Warren, RI and Kevin Fernandes of Somerset, MA, many nieces & nephews. Edward was the brother of the late John Fernandes, Frank Fernandes, Joseph Fernandes Souza, Manuel S. Fernandez, and Olive Frazier.

Edward's visitation will take place on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 8-9:30 A.M. in the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River, followed by a funeral mass at Our Lady of Peace Parish at St. Patrick's Church, South St., Somerset at 10:00 A.M. Interment at Nathan Slade Cemetery, Somerset.
