We are sad to announce that on July 7, 2024, at the age of 78, Elaine Marie Alves of Westport passed away at Tobey Hospital. Wife of Richard C. Alves Sr. The two shared 56 loving years of marriage together. Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Manuel and Lena (Santos) Perry.

Elaine worked as a CNA for many years, retiring at Sarah Brayton Nursing Home. She enjoyed shopping, relaxing, camping, lobster dinners, going on vacations with her husband to the Cape and especially many cruises and tropical vacations. Most of all Elaine loved family gatherings and bossing them around. She babysat all of her grandchildren, who grew up to be wonderful people, and later enjoyed the pleasure of babysitting her great-grandchildren, as well. Elaine was a genuine, loving person who cared for everyone, but she was also determined. As the family would put it, "She gave us all – one hell of a ride!"

She was a devoted mother to her 2 children Keri Soares of Westport and Richard C. Alves Jr. (wife Arlene) of Dartmouth; sister to Kenneth Perry and the late Robert Perry; grandmother of Lauren Callahan (husband Jon), Connor Alves, Dylan Soares, Joya Alves; great-grandmother to Summer and Jack Callahan. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Following cremation, relatives and friends are invited to celebrate a memorial mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of Grace Church at 11 A.M. on Saturday, July 20th. Arrangements are under the direction of the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, Fall River.
