Somerset - With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Eugene R King Sr., who passed away on January 21, 2025, at the age of 92. He was the husband of the late Rita M. (Souza) King. He was born in Providence, RI, and was the son of the late Harry Gordon King and Eleanora F. (Cimaglia) King.

Eugene was a proud Navy veteran who served honorably during the Korean Conflict. After being injured in the line of duty on the U.S.S. Diamond Head, he was admitted to the U.S. Naval Hospital in Chelsea, MA, then transitioned to civilian life.

Eugene pursued his education earning an Honorary Certificate at Johnson & Wales School of Business, Providence, RI. He retired from Federal Service on 3 June 1994 having over 32 years of devoted service to the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport, AUTEC and the United States Navy.

Eugene was a passionate car enthusiast who loved car racing and took great pride in customizing cars and trucks. Above all he cherished spending time with his family, who brought him endless joy.

Besides his children Eugene R. King Jr. (wife Denise) of Tiverton and Donna M. King of Somerset he leaves behind his grandchildren Stephanie King, Jennifer Murphy, Brittany Cordeiro, Christopher King, Lauren King, Matthew King, Victoria King and Gina King and the late Timothy King; great-grandchildren Aedyn Murphy, Owen Cordeiro, Levi Cordeiro, Lincoln King and another great-grandson is on the way.

Eugene also leaves behind a sister Leanore F. Leger and was the brother of the late Harry Gordon King Jr., the late Richard W. King, the late Kathy C. Borges, and the late Lorie Koch, along with many nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will take place in the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Saturday, February 1st at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours on Friday, January 31st from 5-7 PM.
