Eva De
Melo Aguiar
Mar 19, 1939 — Aug 11, 2026
Fall River
FALL RIVER — It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Eva Aguiar, age 87, on August 11, 2026, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Antonio Do Carmo.
Born in Água Retorta, São Miguel, Açores, she was the daughter of the late José Aguiar and Maria (de Melo) Aguiar.
Eva was a loving, generous, and devoted woman whose greatest joys in life were her family and the gift of bringing people together. She found immense happiness in caring for others, especially through the meals she lovingly prepared for her sons and family. She was especially known for her homemade bread, which was made with love and became a cherished expression of her warmth and generosity.
Family gatherings held a special place in Eva's heart. She was happiest when surrounded by the people she loved, gathered around a table filled with delicious food, laughter, conversation, and love. She never hesitated to share what she had with family, friends, and members of her community. Her generosity extended far beyond the kitchen, as she was always willing to lend a helping hand and give to others whenever she could.
Eva also enjoyed the excitement of visiting the casino and, most of all, spending time with the people she loved. After making America her home for nearly 30 years, she created a life filled with cherished memories, lasting friendships, and, above all, a family that meant everything to her.
For Eva, family and food were at the heart of life. Through every meal she prepared, every loaf of bread she baked, and every act of kindness she so freely gave, she expressed her love in a way that touched everyone around her. Her warmth, generosity, and nurturing spirit will remain forever in the hearts and memories of all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Eva's love was felt in the simplest of things—a warm kitchen, a full table, homemade bread, and the people she held dear. Her memory will live on through her family, the traditions she passed down, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness and love.
She survived by her children: Manuel Antonio Do Carmo, Lucia Medeiros, Alzira Botelho, Luis Do Carmo, Paul Do Carmo, Ana Barbosa, Elmira Lopes, Valdemar Do Carmo, Sonia Duarte; siblings: Adao, Jose, Conceicao, Pedro; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Her calling hours will take place in the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Thursday, August 13th from 4-7 P.M. with a service at 6:30 P.M. Cremation to follow.
