Floriano M. Sousa, age 82 of Westport, MA, peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026 with his loving family by his side. Born in Relva, São Miguel, Açores, Floriano was the beloved husband of 58 years to Zenaida (Martins) Sousa and the son of the late Joao and Irene De Sousa.

In his earlier years, Floriano served in the Portuguese Army, having spent two years in combat in Africa. After serving his country, Floriano started his own company in Ponta Delgada, Portugal named Remical. On Dec. 12, 1974, Floriano and his wife emigrated to the United States and settled in Fall River and then in Swansea to raise their family.

With his vast business experience, Floriano started his first United States business in Fall River; Baby World, also known as Mundo do Bebe, on South Main Street and a second business, Columbia Jewelers on Columbia Street, both in Fall River, MA.

In addition to his beloved wife Zenaida, Floriano is survived by his three children Rick Sousa and his wife Rebecca of Millbury, MA, Christine Perry and her husband Paulo DeSousa of Westport, MA, and Michael Sousa of Land O Lakes, FL; his five cherished grandchildren Nathan & Isabel Sousa, Taylor Perry, and Siena & Michael Sousa; three brothers Daciel DeSousa and his wife Maria of Somerset, MA, Joao Sousa and his wife Fatima of the Azores, Portugal, and Aristides Sousa and his wife Maria of Dighton, MA; along with many nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

Floriano's funeral will take place at Manuel Rogers Funeral Home located at 1521 N. Main Street, Fall River on Monday, July 20, 2026 at 8:45 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Grace Church, Sanford Road, Westport at 10:00 AM. Interment located at Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Sunday, July 19, 2026 from 2:00-6:00 PM.
