Fred was born on January 1, 1941, in Providence, RI, and lived much of his young life in Fall River, MA. As a youth, Fred loved playing sports and excelled in baseball and basketball. Living near Fall River Country Club spawned his love for golf. He spent much of his teenage years as a caddy at the club. Golf became a lifelong passion of his and enjoyed it most when playing with his son and grandsons. While raising his children in Westport MA, he coached youth baseball and basketball, at times, ran the leagues. He was an inspiration to many young athletes and his peers.
In 1964, he married the love of his life Ginger. They had four spirited children. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, playing basketball, and watching Boston sports teams. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his large extended family and friends. Fred was fun-loving and was happiest laughing and sharing drinks with his family, cousins, coworkers, and buddies. Fred and Ginger also loved to dance to 50's and 60's music. Yes, just like " the " Fred and Ginger. They would rarely leave the dance floor when the music was right.
He worked his entire career in the textile business, much of it alongside his father Walter, his uncle, and cousins, at the family business Bristol Finishing Company in Fall River, MA. After the business was destroyed by fire in 1990, he went on to close out his career at Duro Finishing and Seville Dyeing. He was a kind, respected leader to his staff and beloved by many of his long-term colleagues.
In his later years, he and Ginger retired to Tarpon Springs, FL, where they spent the last 17 years enjoying the Florida sunshine with their supportive community of friends at Stonehenge on the Hill.
