SOMERSET - With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of George Raposa, age 93, who passed away on January 17, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Maria (Silvia) Raposa and born in Fall River to the late Jacinto and Antina (Almeida) Rapozo.

George was a skilled and dedicated carpenter who took great pride in his craft, even building his own home with his own hands. He honorably served his country as an Army veteran and later devoted himself to his community through his work with the Fire Department, where he formed lasting bonds and cherished the many vacations and memories shared with his fellow firefighters. George had a deep appreciation for life's simple joys, especially his yearly vacations and quiet moments spent playing solitaire. Above all else, he was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother and a loyal friend.

Along with his wife, he was loved and cherished by many people including his children Donna Raposa (companion Antonio Ferreira), Debbie McHugh (companion Tom Gouker), Paul Raposa (wife Debbie) and the late Robert Raposa; grandchildren Gilbert, Joseph (wife Erin), Kimberly, Cheyenne and the late Robert Jr. and Jacob; great-grandchildren Autumn, Carlton and Maria; late siblings Mary and Evangelina Raposa; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A morning visitation for George will be held on Thursday, Jan. 22nd from 8:30-9:30 A.M. in the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River. A funeral mass will follow in St. John of God Church, Somerset at 10:00 A.M. Interment in Nathan Slade Cemetery, Somerset.
