Germaine "Gerri"
(Mello) Faria
Dec 2, 1933 — Apr 23, 2024
FALL RIVER - Germaine "Gerri" (Mello) Faria, age 90 of Fall River, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 with her loving family by her side. Gerri was the beloved wife of the late Humberto Faria, with who she shared 38 years of marriage. She was the daughter of the late Gil & Adeline (Perreira) Mello, and sister of the late Lawrence, Thomas, Aurelio, Gil Mello, and Carmela Moniz.
Gerri began her professional journey as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at the former Union Hospital, then transitioning to the role of Housekeeping Supervisor at Charlton Memorial Hospital, where she dedicated 23 years of service. Her commitment extended to SStar Drug and Alcohol Center until her retirement in 1998. Post-retirement, she continued her service at Calvary Temple Assembly of God, fulfilling responsibilities as a cleaner/caretaker until 2007.
Gerri was an active member of Calvary Temple for many years; while there she held the position of Secretary in the Women's Ministry, served as Sunday School Superintendent, and was a member of the Calvary Temple Gospel Singers and the Red Hat Society.
The most important thing to Gerri was her family and her faith. Rather than pursuing hobbies, she found joy in the company of her family, prioritizing their happiness above all else. Her selflessness knew no bounds, as she always placed the needs of others before her own.
Gerri is survived by her three daughters: Donna Brightman (husband Edward) of Assonet, Deborah Fournier (late husband Frank) of Fall River, and Lisa Pineault (husband Paul) of Westport; grandchildren: Edward Brightman (wife Courtney) & their children Tyler & Sloane, and Daniel Fournier (wife Brianna) & their son Riggs; siblings: Norman Mello of Fall River, Thomas Mello of New Bedford, and Natalie Yokell of Forestville, CT as well as many nieces & nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service at the Master Builder Ministries, 54 Bedard St. in Fall River at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday, April 27th.
