Gertrude (Trudy) Furtado, age 91, of Somerset, Massachusetts and recently of Fall River, peacefully passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026 at Charlton Memorial Hospital surrounded by her two grandchildren.

She was the wife of the late George P. Furtado and the late Ruy (Rudy) Cavaco, and the mother of the late Susan Ann Cavaco Amaral of Nashua, NH. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Josephine (Pavao) Bernard.

A resident of Somerset since 1960, she resided there for over 60 years. Mrs. Furtado graduated from B.M.C. Durfee High School in 1952. She attended banking courses at the Old Stone Bank in Providence, RI while employed at the First Federal Bank in Fall River. She served at the Somerset office for 25 years where she held the position of Assistant Office Manager and Assistant Treasurer. She retired from the bank after a total of 34 years. She was a member of St. John of God Parish in Somerset.

She is survived by two grandchildren, Rebecca Cummings and Michael Amaral; two great grandchildren, Brielle & Stevie Cummings; and her son-in-law Alan Amaral.
