FALL RIVER - With profound sorrow we announce the passing of Gil M. Aguiar, age 82, who passed at Charlton Memorial Hospital on August 12, 2026. Gil was the beloved husband to the late Vivian (Carreiro) Aguiar. Born in São Miguel, Açores, he was the son to the late Joao Matias Aguiar and Maria Cecilia (Couto) Aguiar.

He loved playing pool on Sundays and was blessed with many friends who appreciated his social, outgoing nature. He was a helpful and understanding person with a big heart, always there whenever someone needed him. He was direct, honest, and very, very funny, always finding a way to make everyone laugh.

He shared a particularly close bond with his grandchildren, who brought him so much joy. He truly enjoyed living life as if every day was his last, making the most of every moment and the people he loved.

Gil Survived by his children: Scott Aguiar, Lori Missino (husband Tony), Mark Aguiar; siblings: Belmira Rebello, John Aguiar; grandchildren: Kayla Aguiar, Hailey Laviolette, Scott Aguiar Jr, Sean Aguiar, Ashley Resendes, Reana Aguiar and Madison Aguiar; along with many great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son the late David Aguiar.

His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Tuesday, August 18th here at 8 A.M. followed by a Mass at Good Shepard Church at 9 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours on Monday, August 17th from 4-7 P.M.
