Gilda Rose (Vasconcelos) Ferreira, age 91, of Swansea, MA passed away peacefully on August 26, 2024 at her home.  She was surrounded by her family after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Manuel T. Ferreira, Jr., and is survived by her sister-in-laws Josephine DiCorpo and her husband Ted of Lady Lake, FL, and Helen Ferreira of Central Valley, NY. Born in Pico Vermelho, Ajuda da Bretanha, on the Island of Sao Miguel, Acores, she was the daughter of the late Luiz Jose and Maria (Pavo) Vasconcelos and sister to the late Luiz Vasconcelos and sisters Maria Rosa Miranda and Helena Goncalo. Gilda moved to the U.S. when she was 15 years old. She lived initially in Fall River and then moved to Swansea shortly after getting married. Prior to her retirement, Gilda worked in the garment industry for a number of years as a seamstress and subsequently operated her own business.

Gilda is the mother of William T. Ferreira of Tiverton, RI and Debra T. Berube of Ponte Vedra, FL, and mother-in-law to Russell Bodoff of Ponte Vedra, FL.  She also leaves three grandchildren, Scott Ferreira and wife Jody of S. Berwick, ME; Robert Berube and wife Sharon of Henrico, VA; and Lisa Ferreira of Tiverton, RI; six great grandchildren (Jared, Evan, Logan and Ella Ferreira, and Alyssa and Ava Berube), as well as several nieces and nephews.  Gilda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Gilda's wake will be held at the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 North Main Street, Fall River. Calling hours are Thursday, September 5th from 4-7 p.m. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 6th at 10 a.m. in St. John of God Church, 1036 Brayton Ave, Somerset, MA followed by her entombment at Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
