Hilda S. Mathias, age 95 passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Charlton Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born Jan. 22, 1930 in Fall River, MA, Hilda was the beloved wife of the late Joaquim Mathias and the daughter of the late Augustine Raposa Cadime and the late Sophie (Simbro) Cadime.

Before retiring, Hilda spent many years working as a sewing machine operator in the garment industry. Later, she was employed by the Fall River School Department as a cafeteria worker. A passionate sports fan, she especially loved cheering on Notre Dame Football, the Boston Celtics, and the Boston Red Sox. Hilda enjoyed trips to the beach and the casino, but what she cherished most was spending time with her family—especially her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Hilda is survived by her children: Maureen Gaboriau (husband Charles) of N. Dartmouth, Donna Amaral (husband George) of Fall River, Michael Mathias (wife Candace) of Swansea, and Cathy Ann Fitzgerald (husband Kevin) of Fall River; four grandchildren: Charles Gaboriau Jr., Jason Gaboriau, Sadie Fitzgerald, and Jack Fitzgerald; five great grandchildren: Mia Gaboriau, Gabrielle Gaboriau, Presley Gaboriau, Charlee Gaboriau, and Sawyer Gaboriau; many nieces & nephews.

Hilda was also the sister of the late Sophie Viveiros, Alice Figueredo, Marie Rego, Lillian Collard, Anna Megna, Manuel Cadime, Joseph Cadima, Edward Cadime, Thomas Cadima, and John Cadime.

Hilda's morning visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 23rd from 8-9:30 AM in the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at Holy Name Church at 10 AM. Interment at Notre Dame Cemetery.
