SWANSEA – Hortense T. "Tessie" Costa, age 103 a resident of Swansea and previously of Somerset, peacefully passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024 with her loving family by her side. Tessie was the beloved wife of the late John Costa and the daughter of the late Manuel & Marianna (Amorin) Oliveira.

Prior to retiring, Tessie worked as an assembler for Raytheon Electronics Mfg. Co. In her free time, she loved to make jigsaw puzzles, and also created beautiful crewel embroidery pictures. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Tessie was the mother of the late Mary Lou Costa, the late Carol Ann Medeiros, and Joan Marie Geraldes and her husband Joseph, whom she shared a very special bond with. Tessie was also the sister of the late Ida Larue, late Manuel Oliveira, late Silvanna De Costa, late Mary Santos, Marianna Correia of N. Dartmouth, MA, late John Oliveira, Rose Correia of N. Dartmouth, MA, late Alice Oliveira, Leontina Bariteau of Bellingham, MA, late Edward Oliveira, late infant Jose Oliveira, and the late baby Rosie Oliveira. She was the beloved grandmother of Mark Costa, Amy Lynn Medeiros, Erica Ann Medeiros, Theresa Lee Pavao (husband Kyle), and Jennifer Lee Melo (husband Joshua); she was affectionately known as Gramsie to her great grandchildren Grace Helena Melo and  Carmen Marie Pavao; and aunt to many-many nieces & nephews.

A Funeral for Grams will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Friday, July 19, 2024 here at 8:45 A.M. followed by a funeral mass at St. Francis of Assis Church, Swansea at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Somerset.
