WESTPORT - Surrounded by loved ones, Ilda M. Arruda, age 88, peacefully passed away on August 1, 2025 in the comforts of her home. She was the loving wife of the late Manuel S. Arruda. Born in Ribeira Grande, São Miguel, Açores, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mariana (Grota) Rosa.

Ilda, a devoted parishioner of St. Michael's Parish, was known for her love of the simple joys in life. She found happiness in yard work, sewing, fishing, and never passed up a sweet treat. She enjoyed helping her husband with carpentry projects—though she often drove him a little crazy in the process. A proud homebody, Ilda cherished quiet Sundays spent with her family. She retired from River Falls after many dedicated years as a machine operator and will be remembered for her strong work ethic.

She was loved and cherished by many people including her children Liduino "Lenny" Arruda, Lina Pedro (husband Joao), Maria Goncalo, Regina "Reggie" Arruda (husband Frank), Ana "Bella" Hager and Natalie Gomes (husband Manny); 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters Maria Lopes, Fatima Sandavol, Anna Correia, Rosa Mello and her late siblings Manuel Rosa, Eduarda Rodrigues, Jermana Rosa and Lurdes Rosa; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ilda's funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Wednesday, August 6th  here at 8:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph's Church at 9:00 AM. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Calling hours on Tuesday, August 5th from 4-7 PM.
