FALL RIVER – Irene (Hanley) Alto, age 93 a lifelong resident of Fall River, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 7, 2022 at Catholic Memorial Home with her loving family by her side. Irene was the beloved wife of the late John Alto and the daughter of the late Armand & Elvira (Fernandes) Hanley.

Irene had been a homemaker most of her life helping to raise her 5 children. Irene was a communicant of St. Michael's Church and a member of its craft committee.

She is survived by her 5 children: Susan Cabeceiras (late husband Roger) of Swansea, Paul Alto (girlfriend Donna Cerce) of Somerset, Barbara St. Pierre (husband William), Cindy Cabral (husband Michael), & Dawn Stukus (husband Mark) all of Fall River; 6 grandchildren: Michael Cabeceiras, Joshua St. Pierre, Jonathan Ferreira, Jeremy St. Pierre, Katelyn Fisher, & Sara Cabral; 5 great grandchildren: Olivia, Parker, & Ella St. Pierre, Bishop & Remy Ferreira; 1 niece: Deborah Graham; 2 great nieces: Cheri Graham & Krystal Raposo. Irene was the grandmother of the late Jared St. Pierre, the sister of the late Lorraine Almeida, and the aunt of the late Patricia Almeida & Sandra Raposo.

Irene's funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Friday, March 11 ^th here at 9:00 A.M. followed by a funeral mass in St. Michael's Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery.
