In loving memory, we honor the life of Irene L. "Tootsie" Ferreira, age 86, who passed on July 10, 2025 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Domingos Ferreira. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Bertrand and Lauretta (Garant) Durand.

Tootsie, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and a cherished member of her community. She found happiness in simple pleasures—baking for loved ones, vacationing in Florida, and enjoying cruises with her beloved family. A longtime active parishioner of St. Thomas More, her faith was a constant in her life. Tootsie worked as a clerk at Weintraub's, but it was her role as a homemaker that brought her the most joy. She helped raise not just her own family, but everyone around her, with a warm heart and a generous spirit. Known for her fun-loving nature and unforgettable baking, her cookies and famous cranberry bread sparked playful fights among her grandchildren. Tootsie's warmth, laughter, and love will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered.

She was loved and cherished by many people including her children Michelle Vauthrin (late husband Ronald) of Riverside, RI., David Ferreira (wife Kimberlee) of Seekonk, Susan Raymond (partner Gerald Mello) of East Freetown and Matthew Ferreira (wife Rebecca) of Somerset; grandchildren Nicholas, Lynelle, Michael and Mia Ferreira; great-grandchildren Emily and Benjamin Ferreira; siblings Yvette Miranda, Lauretta Pieroni, Bertrand Durand and Todd Durand; as well as several nieces, nephews and other family members that will sadly miss her.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate a Mass of Christian burial at St. Thomas More Church at 10 A.M. on Tuesday, July 15th. Cremation to follow. Calling hours on Monday, July 14th from 4-7 P.M. Arrangements are under the direction of the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River.
