It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Irene L. Santos of Fall River, who passed away on September 23, 2023, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Beloved spouse of the late Antone DePonte Santos, and born in Porto Formoso, São Miguel, Açores, daughter of the late Gilbert and Elvira (Melo) Leite. Irene was a parishioner at Our Lady of Angels Church and, most recently, Good Shepherd, where she served for a long time as a Eucharistic Minister. Each summer, she cherished her trips to the Açores to visit her relatives. She was very talented. She made crochet blankets for many members of her family, but she was most well-known for her cooking, particularly her Portuguese soup.

She was loved and cherished by many people including her children David Santos of Fall River and Tracy Arraj of Worcester; siblings Gil Leite, August Leite, Deolinda Roman, Norbina Rodrigues, Maria Wong, Jose Leite and the late Maria Furtado and Hilda Gerlach; grandchildren Nicholas and Lindsay Santos, Julia and George Arraj; great grandchildren Olivia and Violet Santos and Hugh Kenworthy V; as well as many nieces, nephews and other family members who will sadly miss her.

A visitation for Irene will be held on Friday, September 29th from 8:30-10:15 A.M. in the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River. A funeral mass will follow in Good Shepherd Church at 11:00 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery.
