James M.
Mello
Jun 7, 1959 — Mar 20, 2024
FALL RIVER - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jaime M. Mello, who passed away on March 20, 2024, peacefully at the age of 64 after a long battle with cancer, leaving to mourn family and friends. Born in Vila Franco do Campo, São Miguel, Açores, son of the late Jaime Ricardo & Zelia (Carvalho) de Melo.
Jaime served honorably for the US Air Force as Senior Airman. While in the Air Force Jaime enjoyed traveling and the new experiences that came along with it. You could always count on Jaime to have a good story about growing up in the "70's" or his time traveling around the world. Jaime was also a huge history, sports, movie, and music buff. Whether he was quizzing you about The Rolling Stones discography, the 1986 Celtics or the fall of the Roman Empire, he always had a trove of knowledge he would always be more than willing to share.
Jaime was always unapologetically himself, which is a quality people loved about him. It was always a good time when Jaime was in the conversation. Jaime loved a good meal (especially a Portuguese steak with TWO eggs) and enjoyed spending time with his family above all else. His laughter and passion will be missed immensely.
He was loved and cherished by many people including his children Kimberly Weldon and her husband Erik of Fall River and his son the late James Mello; sisters Rosa Melo, Grace Teves, and the late Filomena Rego; his nephew and nieces; many great-nieces and nephews; Along with many other extended family members.
James' funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Tuesday, March 26th here at 9:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Santo Cristo Church at 10:00 AM. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours on Monday, March 25th from 4-7 PM.
