Joan C. Amaral (Ramos), age 84, passed away at home with her loving family by her side on September 1 ^st .  She was the daughter of the late Edwin C. Ramos and Lurana A. Ramos (Peckham). She was the loving wife of the late Edwin D. Amaral.

Born in New Bedford, she attended the local schools and worked as a ward clerk for five years and an EKG tech for three years until 1969 at Truesdale Hospital. In her earlier years she enjoyed going on vacation with her daughter, gardening, ceramics and bowling.  She loved animals, especially the family dog Luna, she liked to spend time watching the Red Sox while she played on her tablet.  She looked forward to her nightly calls with her great-nephew Kyle. Joan was a very faithful woman and loved God and her church.  Most of all Joan loved her family, she was an incredible wife, mother and grandmother and she will be deeply missed.

Joan leaves behind her children; Paul Amaral and his wife Darlene of Somerset and Brenda Amaral and her partner Pheno of Swansea; her grandchildren; Macy Amaral, Makayla Kenyon, Paul Daniel Amaral, Marissa Kenyon and Shelby Amaral; her nephews Michael, Brian, Mark, Scott and the late Keith; as well as several great nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Carol M. Medeiros and the late Edwin N. Ramos.

Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Wednesday September 7 ^th at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John of God Church in Somerset at 10:00 A.M.  Interment to follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Somerset.  A visitation will be held at the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 6 ^th from 5:00-7:00 P.M.
