John Furtado, age 82, a longtime resident of Somerset, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2024 at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Ctr. Born in Fall River to the late Arthur Furtado, and the late Mary (Machado) Furtado.

Prior to retiring, John worked at New England Power Plant as a stationary fireman & engineer. He was a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War Era, and an avid Boston Bruins fan.

John is survived by his son Arthur "Butch" Furtado and his wife Missy; his sister Cynthia Messier; his caring nieces & nephews Crystal & Jason Messier and their son Wyatt, Lori Messier, Michael & Kelly Messier, Paul & Tasha Messier & their children Robert, Ellianna, & Stephanie; grandchildren; & great grandchildren.

John's calling hours will be held on Thursday, Dec. 19th from 4-7 P.M. in the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River, MA., with a service on Friday, Dec. 20th at 9:00 A.M. in the funeral home. Interment w/ Military Honors to follow in MA National Cemetery, Bourne at 10:45 A.M.
