Fall River – John S. Pavao, age 98, passed away at St. Annes on January 5 ^th .  Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Eugene and Deolinda (Tavares) Pavao.  He was the loving husband of the late Beatrice (Raposa) Pavao.

Prior to his retirement, John was a Fall River Police officer for thirty-two years.  He also proudly served his country in WWII as a Staff Sargent in the United States Army Air Corp, where he was a Flight Maintenance Gunner and part of the 673 ^rd Bombardment Squadron.  He earned many medals during his time with the military, such as; Air Medal and Good Conduct Medal as well as the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, American Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze service star.  After his retirement, he enjoyed playing golf, watching the Celtics and trips to North Conway, N.H.  Above all else, John was a family man, who loved his family dearly.  He was a wonderful son, husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his children; Carolyn Cabral, Michael Pavao and Kenneth Pavao; his grandchildren; Mike, Jenn, Lindsey, Kelly and Aaron; and two great grandchildren; Logan and Collin.

John's funeral service will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Wednesday, January 11 ^th at 11:00 A.M.
