WESTPORT – Jose Simao Alves, age 78 of Westport, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023 at St. Anne's Hospital with all of his family by his side. Joe was the beloved husband of Patricia M. (Pacheco) Alves. Born on Feb. 18, 1944 in Sao Vicente Ferreira, Sao Miguel, Azores to the late Jose Alves Rapozo and the late Guilhermina (Almeida) Rapozo.

Prior to retiring, Joe worked at Tillotson Rubber Co. for 25 yrs. as a machine operator, and was a communicant of Espirito Santo Church. Joe loved to do anything outdoors, like gardening, cutting his grass, and spending time at the beach. Most of all, Joe loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Patricia, survivors include his 2 sons: David Alves of Fall River and Robert Alves (wife Penelope) of W. Warwick; siblings: Octavia Ventura of Fall River, Laudalina Oliveira of Bristol, and the late Manuel Alves; 3 grandchildren: Faith Alves, Rachel Alves, and Michael Alves; nieces & nephews.

Joe's funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Monday, Jan. 30 ^th with a morning visitation from 8-9:45 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass in Espirito Santo Church, at 10:30 A.M.
