Dartmouth- Jose A. Carvalho, age 71, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 19 ^th .  Born in Capelas, Sao Miguel, Acores, he was the son of the late Jose M. and Beatriz M. (Medeiros) Carvalho.  He was the husband of Maria H. Carvalho (Pereira).

Prior to his retirement, Jose worked at JoAnn Fabrics in Fall River.  He was a very kind man, who had a soft spot for animals, especially his "grand-dogs" Niko and Khloe.  Jose had a knack for getting a rise out of the people he cared for, but if any one of them needed a hand, he would help as best he could.  He enjoyed the guitar and listening to music, as well as attending the yearly feast at St. Michaels Church. Jose absolutely loved his family, and his family loved him right back, for example; his sister, Grace and her husband taking Jose into their home to provide him with the most amazing care and support to spend his final years at peace and comfortable. Jose's children cannot thank Grace and Duarte enough and hope they know how grateful they are for their love and care of their dad.

Besides his wife, Jose is survived by his children; Elizabeth C. Lazaro, Steven Carvalho and Vanessa Carvalho; his siblings: Grace Furtado and her husband Duarte, Antonio Carvalho; his niece and nephews; God-Son Nelson Furtado, Milton Carvalho and Diane Furtado; his grandchildren; Savannah Carvalho, Elijah Lazaro, Giovanni Carvalho, Ava de Oliveira, Tristian de Oliveira and Mason Camara.

The family would also like to thank the staff of Beacon Hospice who provided Jose with the most caring, dignified, truly immaculate care possible at the end of his life.
