Obituary

FALL RIVER - We are sad to announce that on March 19, 2024, at the age of 50, Jose Manuel Cidade passed away at Dana Farber Cancer Institute after a long battle with leukemia. Born in Nordeste, São Miguel, Açores, son of Margarida (Carreiro) Pereira Cidade and the late Joao Furtado Cidade.

Jose was an avid basketball fan spending his youth playing for CYO. He was also, a die hard fan of the "49ers" NFL team. He loved his mother dearly whom he cared for everyday. Spending time with his children was most important to him. The best memories with his children were made going fishing with his oldest son Joey, taking his daughter Kelsey out on father daughter dates, and sharing his love for food with his youngest son Brett.

Jose was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, loyal, and brave. He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them - and if you knew him, you knew it.

He was loved and cherished by many including his children Jose M. Cidade Jr., Kelsey Cidade and Brett Cidade, all of Dartmouth; siblings Joao Cidade, Maria Ines Cidade, Margaret Bradham, Lucy Cidade and Dina Cidade; as well as several nephews and other family and friends who will sadly miss him.

A visitation for Jose will be held on Monday, March 25th from 8:30-9:30 A.M. in the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River. A funeral mass will follow at Espirito Santo Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
