Joseph Farias
Jr.
Sep 12, 1944 — Jun 15, 2025
Tiverton
TIVERTON - In loving memory, we honor the life of Joseph Farias Jr., age 80, who transitioned into eternal rest at home with his loving son by his side, on June 15, 2025, after a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Ann (Homol) Farias, who passed away last year; their hearts are now joined once more. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Joseph and Pauline (Perry) Farias.
He was a proud jack-of-all-trades and had many different jobs throughout his life. He worked for the Anderson Little Clothing company as Executive Chauffeur for many years until the company closed. He then became a long and short-haul truck Driver for J. Anthony Express until he retired. He also worked for a few food establishments including KFC and the Nite Owl Diner; he even owned "Little Joe's Hot Dogs" for a few years, which he named after his son. In his earlier working life, he worked with his brother Roger for years in construction and later was a finish carpenter and cabinet maker, among other trades. He was unwaveringly supportive of his son in all aspects of life. He supported and encouraged him to follow his passions for Roller Figure Skating, violin, orchestra and choral activities, and later lent his woodworking skills to help his son in his business endevors and home improvement projects. He was always there to lend a hand and get the job done.
In the 15 months following his wife's passing, he became a regular at Longplex in Tiverton, where he loved chatting with the employees, walking the track and meeting the many friendly members there. He was a regular at his beloved breakfast joint, Country Kitchen in Tiverton, where the staff really treated him like family and where he would meet his breakfast buddy, Andy, and talk about the daily news and newspaper comics. He also loved his weekly, Wednesday night dinner dates with his in-laws, Patty and Brian. In his final days, he was very appreciative of all the visits from family and friends, which filled his heart with peace.
Joe loved to travel. He and his son had a great last 15 months, having gone to Conway, NH for a "guys weekend," saw Dionne Warwick in concert, and lastly, a trip to Lake Placid, NY for the first anniversary of his wife's passing. Among these and many other outings, he always gave it his all, even when it became difficult. He was a fighter!
He is survived by his children, Joseph Farias III of Tiverton and his daughter, Lynn Oliveira (Farias); grandson Bruce Oliveira; grandpups Macchiato and Noisette; siblings Roger Farias, Richard Farias, Elaine Pacheco and Janet Farias; as well as many other family and friends who will greatly miss him. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, MA, and to Southcoast Hospice Care, especially his Primary PCA, Anna.
Following cremation, Services will be private. Arrangements were under the direction of the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River. To send the family Expressions of Sympathy, please click the Guest Book below.
