Joseph Moniz Jr., age 92 and a lifelong resident of Fall River, unexpectedly passed away at home on Friday, September 25, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Leonora "Lee" (Ferry) Moniz and the son of the late Jose and Mary (Cordeiro) Moniz. In addition to his wife and parents, Joseph was predeceased by his brother William Moniz and his sister Evelyn DeMoura.

Joseph was a US Army veteran and prior to retiring, he worked construction for Local 610 Laborers Union out of Fall River. In his free time, Joseph enjoyed trying his luck at the area Casinos. He also enjoyed socializing with his work friends at the local union hall.

Joseph would frequently patronize Rogers Coney Island Restaurant, and many times he would arrive when they opened and help by starting the morning coffee machines.

Joseph is survived by his daughter Susan Banville & husband Lucien H. Banville of Westport; his two sons Jeffrey Moniz of Westport, Wayne Moniz & his companion Joanne Soares and her daughter Amanda Soares; two grandchildren Laura Banville-Field & Luke Banville; two nieces and 1 nephew.

Joseph's private funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home.
