Fall River
FALL RIVER - In loving memory, we honor the life of Joy C. Reis, age 84, passed away on September 19, 2025 at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the wife to the late Tomaz Albert Reis. Born in Yonkers, NY, she was the daughter to the late George Henry and Sarah (Travis) Phifer and mother of the late SFC Donald Reis.
She was an active and devoted member of many organizations, including the Red Hat Sweethearts, the Fall River Carousel Lions, the Classy Ladies of Whites of Westport, the Fall River Elks, and the Federation of the Blind. Having attended the Perkins School for the Blind, she carried with her a deep sense of resilience and community spirit throughout her life. She was a active member of the church where her faith played a guiding role in her daily life. She enjoyed her time at the Flint Senior Center, where she built lasting friendships and cherished the fellowship it provided. Her involvement in these groups reflected her love for people, her generous heart, and her commitment to living life fully.
She survived by her grandchild Logan Concepcion-Reis; siblings: Foster Philfer, Charles Dick Phifer, Kathy Cardian and Dale Carrier; nephew Ronald Cardin; niece Casy Cardin; God-daughter Mitchell Rego. She was preceded in death by brothers George and Russell Phifer; nephew Scott Carrier.
She was also deeply connected to her niece, Ruth Ezekiel, her daughter, Amanda Phifer, along with Amanda's children, Sylvia, Natalie, and Rico, to whom she was lovingly known as a great-grandmother figure. Her nurturing spirit and warm heart made her more than family by relation. She also shared a special bond those closest to her, Elaine and Norbert Foltz, with whom she lived for many years, were a cherished part of her daily life and gave her comfort, companionship, and love.
Morning visitation will be held at the Calvary Temple Assembly of God in Fall River on Monday, September 29th from 9- 10 A.M., followed by a service at 10 A.M. Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Manuel Rogers Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River.
