Fall River
FALL RIVER – With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Leonard Souza, age 81, who passed away on March 8, 2026, with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Theresa (Cordeiro) Souza. Born and raised in Fall River, he was the son of the late Anthony Souza and Mary (Soares) Souza.
Leonard was employed in the textile industry as a machine operator for over 30 years, working for Capri Textiles and Duro Industries, both located in Fall River, MA. After his retirement, Leonard served his community as a crossing guard for Carlton Viveiros Elementary School and several other local schools, where he became a familiar and friendly face to countless students, parents, and staff. He often proudly wore bracelets, necklaces, and crafts that the children gifted him as a token of their appreciation for his kindness.
A lifelong New England sports fan, Leonard loved cheering on local teams and enjoyed watching games with his sons. Alongside traditional sports, he had a deep appreciation for boxing, fishing, and horse racing, and enjoyed spending evenings watching matches and races.
Leonard especially found great joy in spending time with his grandchildren—Brittany, Lenny, Emilee, and Laura—and great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Emma, whom he adored.
Leonard is survived by his beloved wife, Theresa (Cordeiro) Souza; his sons, Leonard Souza Jr. and Kenneth Souza, and daughter-in-law, Renee Souza; grandchildren: Brittany Cull and Ryan Cull (husband of Brittany Cull), Leonard Souza III, Emilee Souza, and Laura Souza; great-grandchildren: Wyatt Cull and Emma Cull; his goddaughter, Heidi Pina; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Anthony, James, and Wayne Souza.
Private arrangements were entrusted to the care of Manuel Rogers Funeral Home. The guest book may be viewed online, and you may also light a candle in honor of Leonard.
