North Port

Obituary

Lorraine B. Borden, a long-time resident of Somerset, Massachusetts, has unexpectedly passed away in North Port, Florida at age 89.  Daughter of the late Joseph J. & Beatrice (Cloutier) Lach Sr., Lorraine was a brilliant woman who led a full, wonderful life alongside her husband of 54 years (the late Joseph R. Borden).  Prior to retirement, she was a manager at a grocery store, a baker, the owner of an antique business, a hairdresser, and real estate broker.  Most importantly, Lorraine was a loving matriarch and a great friend.

A lucky woman with life-long friendships, she often played bingo, and spent time travelling.  She admired the beauty of this world as an avid bird watcher and gardener.  She navigated the United States with her family on several trips across the country, visiting national parks, and adventurously exploring local points of interest with her late husband.  She loved reading, and trips to the casino with family and friends.  Lorraine collected wonderful memories throughout her life and was a great storyteller.

In her later years, she enjoyed her time in warmer weather in Florida.  She always said every day was so beautiful, like living in paradise.

Survivors include her Children: Christine M. Comella (husband Thomas) of North Port, FL, Michael J. Borden (wife Gail Roderick) of Fall River, MA, and Nancy A. Borden, of Watauga, TX; Siblings: Joseph J. Lach Jr., Julie A. Bursey, and the late William G. Lach; Grandchildren: Andrew R. Galuska, Candice Borden, and Thomas N. Comella, Jr.; Great Grandchildren: Thomas & Nicholas Comella; and several nieces and nephews.

Lorraine's private funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River, MA. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to her favorite charity (of which she donated monthly), St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
