SWANSEA — With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lorraine (Medeiros) Ferreira, age 84, who passed peacefully on August 9, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Joseph Ferreira. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Mildred Medeiros.

She was a vibrant, unforgettable woman who loved making people laugh and engaging with others. As an aide at the Swansea Senior Center, she brought joy, energy, and plenty of conversation wherever she went. Boisterous, happy, outgoing, and strong-willed, she was never afraid to speak her mind.

She loved adventure, especially her trips to the Caribbean, with Bonaire holding a special place in her heart. She had a deep love for animals, especially her daughter's golden retriever, Jake, and she always enjoyed watching and listening to birds. She was also very artistic, always sewing or painting something. In her downtime Lorraine took great delight in a variety of video games on her iPad outdone only by her great love of reading two novels a month.

She had a loving heart, a fearless spirit, and a personality that was truly one of a kind. She will be remembered for her laughter, her stories, and the joy she brought to so many.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Joseph Ferreira; her children, Leslie Provost and Jodi Briand; her brother, Lawrence Medeiros; her grandchildren, Sara Farias and Brett Goulart; and her cherished great-granddaughter, Cora Farias. She was predeceased by her brother, Raymond Medeiros.

Following cremation, relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass in Lorraine's memory at St. Francis of Assisi in Swansea on Friday, August 21, at 10:00 A.M. Inurnment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Fall River.
