Lorraine (Ferreira) Freitas, age 79 of Somerset. Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Manuel and Idalina (Costa) Ferreira, passed away unexpectedly at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River on September 2, 2023.

In 1962, Lorraine completed her high school education at Somerset. She moved to Fall River after getting married, where she joined the Holy Name Church. In 1998, she moved back to Somerset and joined St. John of God Church once more.

Prior to her retirement in 1998, she worked many years for the City of Fall River School Department as a lunch aide in various schools throughout the city, with her most recent employment at Durfee High School.

She is survived by her husband of almost 53 years, Jose (Joe) Freitas as well as her sisters; Helen Raposo, husband Tony; Rosemary Ferreira; her only niece, Maria E Raposo, all residents of Somerset; her cousin Dr. Judith G Holcomb of California and several cousins who reside in Fall River.

A visitation for Lorraine will be held on Wednesday, September 6th from 8-9:30 A.M. in the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River. A funeral mass will follow at St. John of God Church, Somerset at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Somerset.
