Rego
Feb 7, 1950 — Feb 6, 2025
Fall River
FALL RIVER – Luis C. Rego, age 74 and a longtime resident of Fall River, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025. Born on Feb. 7, 1950 in Furnas, São Miguel, Azores, Luis was the beloved husband of the late Margaret Pacheco (Medeiros) Rego and the son of the late Ernest Rego and the late Conceicão (Costa) Rego.
Luis was a Union Construction Laborer, retiring from Joseph P. McCabe out of S. Boston, and he also worked for various other companies in and around the greater Boston area. During the 70's to mid-80's, Luis worked at Plymouth Rubber Co.
Luis was very devoted to St. Michael's Church, along with his wife Margaret. He was a past president of the St. Michael's Feast Committee, where he would spend countless hours, days, even months preparing for the annual church feast. He would also help around St. Michael's School, whenever needed.
Luis enjoyed helping to organize the many bus trips to Pennsylvania, Canada, and several other places. He loved to travel with his wife and friends, especially to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. He looked forward to Sunday afternoon gatherings at his son's house to spend time with his family, and especially watching football with his grandchildren. Luis enjoyed meeting up with his daughter Michelle for coffee at Barcelos bakery, going for walks at Heritage Park, and following European soccer, especially the Sporting CP soccer team.
Luis' love for his wife Margaret was never-ending and evident when he became her primary caretaker for 3 ½ years during her cancer battle, before her passing in 2023.
Luis is survived by his daughter, Michelle Pavao (husband Brian) of Fall River; his son, Robert Rego (wife Allyson) of Fall River; his brother, Jose Rego of Fall River; two grandchildren, Coryn Paradise (husband Anthony) and Trooper Robert "Robbie" Rego Jr.(fiancé Chelsey); several nieces & nephews. Luis was predeceased by his siblings, Antone Costa, and Natalia Soares.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Luis' memory to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org .
