SOMERSET – Manuel de Almeida, age 96, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Virginia (Carmo) Almeida. Born in São Pedro, Ponta Delgada, São Miguel, Açores, he was the son of the late Julio and Elvira (Correia) Almeida. Prior to retirement Manuel worked for Belcher Corporation for over 21 years. He was an avid soccer fan. His favorite team was Uniao Micalense. He loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.

Manuel was a loving father to his 4 sons John Almeida of Coventry, RI, Joe Almeida of Fall River, Julio Almeida of New Bedford and Daniel Almeida of Somerset. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Francisco, Julio and Joao Almeida.

Manuel's funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Saturday, Feb 12 ^th here at 8:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church at 9:00 AM. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
