FALL RIVER – Manuel M. Costa, age 72, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on August 9, 2024. He was the beloved husband of 44 years to Ana (Goncalves) Costa. Born in Remedios, Bretãnha, São Miguel, Açores, son of the late Jose and Maria Helena (Medeiros) Costa.

Manuel dedicated many years to R.A.D. Sports Construction Co. before retiring in 2017. Afterward, he took on a job at Portugalia Market Place and also did some landscaping work. In his youth, Manuel served in the Portuguese Army, stationed in Africa. His skills as a handyman were matched only by his generosity; Manuel was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, embodying a spirit of selflessness. He enjoyed fishing and being on the water. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, always eager to take them wherever they needed to go.

He was loved and cherished by many people including his children, Anabela Ferreira (husband Jeffrey) of Westport and Matthew Costa (companion Nicole Pereira) of Westport; grandchildren Caleb and Devon Ferreira, Maddox Costa and Ariana Cousineau; siblings Evaristo Costa, Maria Helena Batista, Antonio Costa, Maria Hortencia Freitas and the late Jose dos Reis Costa; as well as many nieces, nephews and other family members that will truly miss him.

His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St., Fall River Tuesday, August 13th with extended calling hours from 8:30-10:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthony of Padua Church at 11:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River.
