FALL RIVER – Manuel M. Melo, age 80 of Fall River, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022 at St. Anne's Hospital with his beloved family by his side. Born in Ribeira Grande, Sao Miguel, Azores, Manuel was the beloved husband to Teresinha (Pacheco) Melo and the son of the late Manuel V. & Gloriana de Medeiros.

Prior to retiring, Manuel worked for the former Quaker Manufacturing Co. as an Oil Lubricator. He was a Bass Drum player for Banda Açoreana in Fall River, and in Portugal, he played for Filarmônica Voz do Progresso. Manuel was also an avid Benfica Soccer fan. Manuel loved to spend time with his family & friends, especially with his grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Most of all, Manuel was a devout Christian, who loved to touch people's hearts by spreading the word of God through preaching. He loved worshipping God, reading the Bible, and devoting a lot of time to his faith and church.

In addition to his wife, survivors include his children: Filomena Borges (husband Antonio) of Fall River, Emanuel Melo (wife Filomena) of Fall River, Antonio Melo of England, Carmen Aguiar (husband Daniel) of Fall River, and Sandra Picozzi (husband Kenneth) of Swansea; siblings: Hilda Moniz of Canada, Francisco Melo, Beatrice Melo & Rosa Silva all of Sao Miguel, Azores, Fatima Vieira & Maria do Carmo Pacheco both of Fall River; 7 grandchildren: Erica Coelho, Ashley Melo, Vanessa Borges, Trevor Pollitt, Danielle Teixeira, Kailey Pollitt, and Cassidy Aguiar; 8 great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews.

Visitation for Manuel will take place on Tuesday, Jan 25 ^th from 9:00-11:00 A.M. with a service to follow at 11:00 A.M. in the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River, MA. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery. Facial Coverings and Social Distancing are strongly encouraged for all.
